This blog is a collection of stuff from the life-long journey of Daniel DeMoss.
Daniel's in transit, and each one of these posts is a stop on the way. Enjoy the journey.

Public relations is a management function that requires two-way communication and a conscious, deliberate effort to develop and maintain healthy relationships with an organization and its numerous publics.

I found this on the website of my alma mater. It’s a great description for what PR people do and it’s a role that many organizations undervalue. I’m proud to be a part of one that actually does value those healthy relationships.

Today, I saw my name in lights… thousands of tiny little LED lights.
In Oklahoma City we have a billboard company, Lamar Outdoor, who has electronic billboards around the city. When they have unsold time on the boards, they post tweets. How do you get your tweet on the billboards? It’s one part social media strategy and two parts chance. First, you follow @LamarOKC, then they follow you back. They look through their Twitter timeline every day and, if they like a tweet, they retweet it, placing it on the billboards around the city. I was lucky enough to have that happen.
People talk about “the billboard tweets” all the time, here in OKC. It’s brilliant public relations, and it makes for some great fun.
